BEFORE YOU APPLY...
Before you apply, do you think we will be a good fit for what you're looking to do with your life? Take some time, if you haven't already done so, and browse our website. Make sure you read over the job descriptions, too!
Step One: ONLINE APPLICATION - Initial Screening
Submit an application through our online application system. Take your time and ensure you look things over before hitting "submit". You should receive a message saying that your application has been received. If your application aligns with the school's needs and requirements, you'll receive instructions regarding Step Two. Although, applications are accepted year-round, please feel free to contact the recruiter for the timeline that will work best for you!

Step Two: ONE-WAY VIDEO INTERVIEW
If your application lines up with our basic requirements, we'll send you a "one-way video interview". This interview format allows us to see who you are outside of the paper application.
Step Three: 4 LETTERS OF REFERENCE
Once you've submitted your video, you'll want to obtain four letters of reference. We'd like to see THREE letters from those who can speak towards your work ethic and experience working with elementary aged children. Your work with children can be in a paid or unpaid (volunteer) capacity. On top of these letters, we'd really appreciate ONE letter of reference from your pastor, or from someone in a similar capacity, who can speak towards your character and involvement within the local church. Ideally, these letters should be submitted within two weeks of your application being received. They should be emailed to the recruiter and can come in as you acquire them or all at once. Step Four: SKYPE INTERVIEW
After looking through your application and video interview, the team will decide if they'd like to learn more about you. This next step is a Skype Interview with someone from within the HR office.
Step Five: FACE TO FACE INTERVIEW
Applicants who pass the Skype Interview will be invited to interview, in-person, with the MeySen Academy Hiring Team! This in-person interview is typically conducted in Seattle and occurs twice a year in May/June and October/November. MeySen Academy covers airfare to and from Seattle for anyone outside a reasonable driving distance. If the school's HR office is unable to arrange for a flight that comes in and out within the interview day, the applicant will be asked to cover all other cost associated with staying overnight in Seattle; such as their lodging and food.
Step Six: DECISIONS MADE
The team's decisions are typically made within two weeks. Once the offer of employment is extended and accepted verbally, the new employee will begin working with the Human Resource and Foreign Staff Support Teams in gathering and completing the necessary paperwork for obtaining a work visa. The amount of time new employees are in this state of the on-boarding process varies by the time of year they are hired and their date of arrival in Japan.
